Today apparently is National Dog Day and lots of sentimental videos are being shown and words being spoken. They are all true, since becoming an adult my life has been touched and enriched by many dogs. They have helped with my physical and mental well-being and until I am physically not capable of having a dog in my life I cannot imagine a time when one or more wont have a place in our house.
People count too of course but the friendship and unquestioning loyalty shown by dogs towards humans is quite remarkable and often something we/I could learn from them.
This is my contribution a photo of our latest addition that we recently took in from an animal shelter, like a lot of people’s pets she is remarkable and in the short time we have had her has brought so much into our lives.
The other dog we have at home is a cross lurcher/golden retriever now approaching his 17th year. We took him from the same shelter when he was 14yrs, the poor old boy now has some health issues and he may not be here in a day or so. Sad but again wonderful time shared, I hope we have enriched his life, he certainly has ours. As have all the other canine friends that have crossed our threshold.
